NO Trash November – Keeping the Valley Beautiful

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and Keep Tennessee Beautiful (KTnB) are teaming up for their 2nd Annual NO Trash November. NO Trash November is a month-long, statewide initiative encouraging Tennesseans to participate in cleanup events in their communities. Last year, the goal was set at 20,000 pounds of collected litter, excitedly that amount was more than doubled. Across the state, the 95 counties collected 46,067 pounds of litter.

How to get involved with NO Trash November: During the month of November, organize any size group, be it an individual, small or large. Choose any area to pick up litter. It could be your neighborhood, around a business, favorite walking-biking-hiking trail, around a school, a park, a creek, the Nolichucky and the list is endless. Bags, gloves are trash pickers are available thru Keeping the Valley Beautiful. For fun you can give your group a name. Prizes will be given to the group that picks up the most litter. Large items may be placed alongside the road to be picked up by TDOT (let Keeping the Valley Beautiful know). Dangerous items like needles, should be reported and not moved. It is important to report your results to Keeping the Valley Beautiful: number of people in your group, number of bags collected and estimated weight. The totals will be added up and shared with TDOT and Keeping Tennessee Beautiful for the statewide total.

All residents are encouraged to show their support for a litter-free Tennessee by using the #NoTrashNovember Facebook profile frame and the #NobodyTrashesTennessee and #NoTrashNovember hashtags in social media to highlight their litter prevention actions throughout the month.
